Numark Mixtrack Pro 3

As the name suggests, this is the third version of Numark’s Mixtrack controller. This latest release hit the shelves in 2015 and includes some great features that were absent from the previous models. It can be purchased from Musician’s Friend for under $200

The stand-out features on the Numark Mixtrack Pro 3 for me are:

  • Long pitch faders
  • Deep jog wheels
  • Individual channel filters
  • Touch strips for FX triggering and track searching

Long pitch faders

Most of the budget controllers within this price point have very short pitch faders, which gives those controllers a “cheap” feeling. That is not the case with the Numark Mixtrack Pro 3, which boasts 100mm pitch faders.

Deep jog wheels

On the previous versions of this controller, the jog wheels were quite shallow and curved, meaning your fingers could easily slip from the side on to the top platter. The Numark Mixtrack Pro 3 offers a much deeper jog wheel than its predecessor which also allows for greater scratch performance.

Individual channel filters

Numark have included individual channel hi/lo pass filters on their Mixtrack Pro 3, a feature that is more common on mid-range controllers.

While it is a welcome inclusion, I personally feel that it may have been better to include a volume trim and assigned the filter solely to the FX section.

Touch strips for FX triggering and track searching

The Numark Mixtrack Pro 3 allows you to assign 3 FX per deck which are controlled by the touch strips. While the controls aren’t as comprehensive as some of the more expensive alternatives, they are far superior to other controllers within the same price point.

Conclusion

This controller is absolutely perfect for any beginner DJ out there and can be kept as worthy replacement if you ever do feel the need to upgrade.
